Pros and Cons of Electric Vehicles: A Comprehensive Look Through the Eyes of AI

My beginner’s curiosity about artificial intelligence (AI) suggested an experiment. How objective, comprehensive, and impartial is the vision of AI? And I chose a subject that is still quite controversial, even among the bloggers of this magazine, the forced electrification of the European car park. I, therefore, asked a well-known AI site to write an article of a thousand lines, a thousand and not more than a thousand. The question was: “Please write a short newspaper article (1000 characters, gross) about the advantages/disadvantages of cars and light-duty vehicles as introduced by the moratoria on internal combustion engines in the European Union and the United Kingdom after 2035”.

By embracing electric vehicles, we can improve the quality of life for people, and protect the planet for future generations.

In short, man has not transmitted the virtue of synthesis to the machine but the vice of verbosity. In that regard, AI is very human.

Artificial intelligence is quite comprehensive on that particular issue, especially when it comes to the benefits of European moratoria. However, when we consider the two answers, we immediately understand which way we stand. The vision of AI is fully centered on the advanced society, based on the indisputable archetype of the consumer society. But it neglects any questions about the actual impact of the measure on a global scale and, therefore, on the declared climate mitigation target. The AI, however, made a congenital task, a little stereotyped despite its abuse of space rigorously measured in 1000 characters. No more than a thousand characters remain a cruel mirage.
